Christmas Special

Looking to start a flock of lovely Shetland Sheep for someone for Christmas?  I have several bred ewes if you would like to put starter flock together.  I still have rams and wethers for sale as well.  You could have lambs born on your farm this spring.  I really only  have my friendly ones left.  The rams I used were ABA Lava (F1 Drum Jings), a moorit and white F2 Heights Orion, and a fawn gulmoget.  Inquire for more information and pricing.  Happy Holidays everyone!

Fall 500

Well I am willing to sell an adult ewe, and ram pair for $500 this fall.  That is quite a deal.  I have some really lovely rams that need a flock of their own.   I would also sell you two rams for $500 or the two adult ewes for $500, or all 4 wethers for $500.
The two ram lambs above, a modified black gulmoget and a solid black ram that carries moorit, are available immediately.  The rams below have a little work to do before they leave, so anytime after Nov. 21st, they could be made available.  All ram lambs born here are F2 Heights Orion.  The white ram ram is an F2 Drum Jings from Autumn Breezes Acres in PA.  The half poll has Harvest Thyme, Lil' Country Acres, Windswept, and Pike Hill lines.

The ewes available are Minwawe Pearl:
And Mapleton Peanut Brittle (High Bid Kermit X Twin Springs Cotton Candy)
In other news, Scooby continues to be adjusting well to his new home.  Here he is in the center of the group.

New Pony

Okay so I went and got him anyhow.  He needed a good home and I could provide it so meet Scooby.  Amish school bus in his younger years.  Now just in need of a good pasture and some TLC.  He is 20 something, 12 hands high, and rides and drives.  The other horses and ponies have accepted him without incident.  I turned him out in the riding ring next to the back pasture where they could see each other first, that where he is pictured in the second photo.  The horses like him, which is great sign.  Over the years I have learned those two are pretty good judge of character.  All ponies and horses they hated, didn't get to stay here long (for every one's safety).  The ponies accepted him too, as long as he keeps his distance from "Pudge's pony mare" all is good.  Scooby is fine with that.  Food Pudge will share, but not Whinny.  Glad Scooby passed their acceptance test with flying colors.  Hope to get him working lightly soon, letting him settle in first.  I will keep you updated and will post a picture of the 5 of them together.   Sheep post soon too, I promise.  Still have some nice rams and wethers for sale.

Pony's Input

Dear Readers,

Okay the horses didn't get any response, let's see if a pony can get you motivated.  There is another pony we know of, in need of a good home. I guess I am little 'too much' for my current rider so this pony would help get my rider ready for me.  So now I need your help.  Please take some of these sheep off our hooves (hands) so we can make room for one more pony and all the equines can get the attention they deserve around here!

Sincerely,
Pudge Pony

Yes, I still am looking to reduce my flock, so make an offer:

The horses are asking for your help...

Hey you out there...

Yes, you!  See these little woolies behind me?
 Here have a closer look:

Well here is the deal.  Our owner spends way too much time with the sheep.  Today she had wanted to take us out for a spin, and what did she have to do instead?   Move electro-net for the ewes...don't even get us started on them! We are sick of it.  My back is feeling better.  Her knee is doing okay right now.  The bugs are not as bad as they were.  It is time to get riding and we, the horses want you to help us free up some of her time.  We say all rams are for sale!  She says only some of them.  We are bigger so I think we should win.  It is the last year of lambs for a while so she tells us...there are a few rams she wants to use this fall for breeding groups.  The handsome new  F1 Drum Jings white ram is a must.  The morrit and white I think is a well.  All others really are for sale and can leave any time as far as we are concerned.  All rams can leave November 21st.
Tess is serious!  She is feeling left out.

Things do have to give a little more. The garden was a complete failure this year.  It was dry hot and nothing was growing, we are on a well and were having well trouble so I didn't water it.  Then rained for days straight, when it finally stopped the weeds had bolted and we lost control.  I gave up.  I didn't order chickens, we didn't get piglets.  So this is it, the last breeding season for a while I think...
I only have two adult ewes I would be willing to part with as bred ewes or in a package with a ram this fall.  Marshmello above, is not one of them, but may be available this spring.  I plan to keep about dozen for a fiber flock and pasture management but her lambs are too nice for her to be a pasture pet.  I want one more lambing from her and then she can have awesome lambs for someone else.  Did you know she is the most viewed ewe in my flock according to me blog stats. I have four wethers for sale.  Peanut, moorit, and Pearl, grey, are the ewes that I could let go since each have a daughter I am keeping.  I also have a Saanen goat wether kid and yearling doe for sale.  Whistle will not be bred this fall.  I will keep Whistle and this year's doeling for now as our token goats.
I just need a break for while as the rest of life seems to be getting increasingly demanding right now.  It was a great experience.  I just have been so busy, I haven't even spun or knit in a really long time.  I have my entire clip from this year is untouched to date.  I am willing to sell it cheap if you are interested, as is, unskirted and not washed.  Cover the shearing charge and shipping and you can have as much as you would like, available in a variety of colors.  Inquire for more information and pricing.

Rams and wethers for Sale

I still have a few F2 Heights Orion ram lambs for sale.  A black ram that carries moorit.
This grey ram lamb I have been saving for a return customer, but I haven't heard from them in a while, so I am not sure they are breeding this fall.  Waiting to hear back...he may be available.
I also have 3 black wethers for sale for ram companions, fiber pet, or for you to grow out:

Coyote Loss

Well after 6 years of no predator attacks on the flock, a coyote got one of my keeper ewe lambs.  We were on vacation this past week.  The house sitter didn't notice one less during in the week, but when I got home I did right away.  No trace.  Fence up and hot, just gone.  My neighbor called last night to say something had dragged the few day old carass into their yard.  They had heard coyotes and screams like nothing she had ever heard before outside a few nights before but didn't see the carass until last night.  I don't know if she had gotten out of the fence and was easy pickings or if they got in and out of my electronet without being shocked, tangled, or taking it down.  I just hope they don't come back for more now they have gotten a taste.  If you have purchased a lamb and haven't picked it up yet, you may want to come sooner, rather than later.

Meet my new F1!

ABA (Autumn Breezes Acres) Lava - an F1 Drum Jings

He is my only white sheep...but not for long! Next year I should have a nice mix of colors and patterns including white.  Marshmello may look white, but she is genetically grey.  Lava is white and carries moorit.  I may not breed many, but this guy will get a very nice selection of ewes in his breeding group this year for sure!

Thanks Mac and Michelle for stopping by and leaving a comment the last two posts.  Mac, I hope you like Lucy!  It was great meeting Kim and Shelly, they are awesome, thanks for sending them my way.

Holding steady...

Or trying to.  I had 6 sheep leave today and I added one.  More details on new F1 later with pictures soon!  But I counted my ewes today and I am down to 16 ewes!  Yikes, have I taken my flock reduction too far?  I think I will hold steady for bit.  So at this time I can put one flock starter together if need be, but mostly only rams and wethers are for sale at this time.  I have two really handsome ram lambs for sale, and several wethers.  Here are a few girls that are staying:

So  in terms of ewes in my flock I have two black, two gullies, four kats, one gul/kat, three moorits, two greys, one white (genetically grey), one morrit and white flecket.

For rams I have one fawn gul kat half polled yearling.  I am wintering over 4 ram lambs:  One white Drum Jings F1 ram, three F2 Heights Orion:  modified black gully, one moorit and white, and one fawn kat.  For sale, one black and one grey.

So I am at my magic number of 20 if I sell both ram lambs, the yearling mid Nov., and  and all the wethers.  That is where I wanted to be.  I figure I will go into winter with between 20 and 24 sheep, and 2-4 goats.

Time to sit down and register and transfer all the sold sheep so if you are waiting for papers look for them in your mail very shortly.  That is my project for the week other than dealing with the water damage in my house from a faucet left on for 10 hours.  Don't ask, it makes me sick to my stomach to think about it!  Family member recovering from surgery as well so if I am quiet for while, you will know why.
