The Wine Trail Handspinners will share the fun of spinning yarn by hand at
the Seneca Fiber Day Saturday, August 21, 10 am to 4 pm at the Fellowship
Hall of the Hector Presbyterian Church, Route 414 in Hector, NY. This group
has been meeting monthly in Hector for several years to learn from each
other, spin together and share information and expertise. There will be a
colorful and touch-able display of handspun yarn and the things we¹ve done
with it, including sweaters, socks, scarves, hats and other good things made
from the bounty of sheep, alpaca and mohair goats.
The day will include workshops (available to participants by
on-site registration on a first-come, limited enrollment basis) in beginning
spinning (11 am), natural dyeing (1 pm) and wet felting (3 pm). Nominal
fees are charged for supplies for some of the workshops. Spinners and
non-spinners may bring work-in-progress projects to the ³knitting doctor² in
two sessions (noon-1 pm and 2-3 pm) for advice, direction and other help.
Vendors of fiber, yarn and spinning equipment will be present, and there
will also be a raffle to benefit the Schuyler County Humane Society.
Admission is free you are welcome to come and stay all day.
